Bargain Holiday deals to Lanzarote
Lanzarote has a unique landscape to look at and an unbeatable choice for sunshine, beaches and watersports. A hot and sunny holiday island, with some of the best beaches in the Canaries and dramatic inland volcanic landscape, less than sixty miles from the African coast and the warm winds that blow from here are ideal for windsurfing.
Whether you want to relax on soft sands and soak up the sun, or enjoy some superb watersports, a holiday in Lanzarote is perfect. There are a number of scuba-diving schools, especially at Costa Teguise. Of course, if all you want is the occasional cooling dip, the clear turquoise waters are sure to tempt you off your sun bed.
Choose your Lanzarote holiday resort carefully. If you want to spend days seriously sun-bathing and nights out and about, Puerto del Carmen is lively until the early hours. Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca are much more low-key - a handful of bars and restaurants are pleasantly inviting but most holidaymakers opt for relaxed evenings centred around their hotels or apartments. Playa de los Pocillos, along the coastal road from Puerto del Carmen, offers the best of two worlds. This resort is more laid back than its neighbour but is only a short bus or taxi ride from the shops, bars and restaurants of Puerto del Carmen.
Whilst we agree that one of Lanzarote's main attractions is its wonderful beaches, please ensure you take a trip inland. The astonishing lunar-like landscapes of Timanfaya National Park are unforgettable, with hundreds of volcanic cones (mostly extinct!). For memorable views of the crater, take a camel ride up the mountain and treat yourself afterwards to lunch barbecued on a 'volcanic grill'
